Im sort of back

Hey everyone. I apologize for the extended absence, but it has all been for positive reasons instead of negative! I bought a house and I moved in with my girlfriend last month. We still have some of our new ordered furniture coming in, so it doesn’t totally feel like “home” quite yet and we’ve still got some painting to do, etc. I’m hoping we’ll get most of this finished by the end of the month, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it took longer; that is how everything seems to go :)

I really want to give a big shout out to all my forum members and specifically the mods. I’ve been able to play a limited roll in PokerTrikz these last few months while I handled other things and everything has ran very smoothly. Our members are all awesome and if you don’t use the forums you are missing out on great people and advice.

You may see some smaller changes creeping up around the website in the coming months while I get the rest of it fixed. I have a lot of other websites in much worse shape than PokerTrikz though and some of those need more attention. I’m actually going to be doing some cleaning house and selling off some websites and domains so I can better focus on a few. This seems to be commonplace among other affiliates in the industry recently, but I think the advice is good.

I’ve got to go get some dinner and finish up some work tonight so I will be signing out here. Later.

My Summer so far

Like most bloggers, I must start with an excuse as to why I’ve not been blogging recently. These last few months have been hectic. I’ve been looking for a house for the last few months and we are in the closing process now. We get the keys August 15, barring nothing crazy happens until then. I’ve had some other non-PokerTrikz projects get up and running, but those still need a lot of work too. PokerTrikz now has a support ticket system, which is going to lighten my load considerably and hopefully make response times much better for you guys.

I also must admit that I’ve been doing my fair share of relaxing as well. I have been watching The Wire and have finished the first 3 seasons. It is definitely good, but I think Lost is better. Honestly I think Veronica Mars is better as well. I’m going to finish seasons 4 and 5 in the next few weeks though, so then I’ll give my full report. I can’t say I’m not expecting good things.

I’ve also been watching One Piece. It’s an anime similar to Bleach or Naruto, but it’s about a Pirate gang. It’s actually ranked one of the top 10 anime on AnimeNFO where Bleach and Naruto aren’t even close. The characters are so much more entertaining so far. Their care-free attitude is hilarious and Zoro is awesome. I’m up to episode 90 and when they were fighting Mr. 3 and the whole scene with cutting his legs off, standing with his sword raised, etc were hilarious.

I’ll have pictures of the house as soon as I can. I’ll try to post more updates, but I wouldn’t count on it, with these crazy times.

Google Search for PokerTrikz

Someone searched for this in Google to find PokerTrikz. I promise it wasn’t me, though I wouldn’t doubt I’ve typed it into Google before.

Trikkur’s Job

A lot of people ask me what I do for a living. I’ve posted this on the forums a few times, but it should make a good blog post as well. I’ll avoid going into great detail at this very time, but I may make longer posts about it all later.

First of all, I don’t play poker full time anymore. I did that for a few years through college and eventually quit and got my first apartment. I lived off poker earnings up until 6-8 months ago. I have slowly transitioned into doing full time internet marketing. Essentially, I run websites. Right now I mostly deal with poker sites. It was an easy transition since I learned a lot with PokerTrikz and loved playing poker. It’s a fun job to have because I can play poker stress free now. I know I can live off of my network of websites. I have quit playing poker as much because of it. I really got burnt out playing so long every day. I recommend not playing poker for a long term thing.

I don’t want to limit myself to just poker sites though. I’d like to start looking into other gambling niches such as casinos and sportsbook. I’m not sure how interested in those topics I am though, so I’m also looking to other things. I really like anime, so I might try out some anime streaming sites. I really know nothing about it though, so it will be a fun adventure. If anyone has more info on this, please feel free to contact me.

I still get the same expressions when I tell people I run websites when I told them I played poker. People don’t understand how it’s possible to make money without “working a job”. I actually find it much easier to make money in things I enjoy. I wish other people would understand that too instead of just giving me that stupid WTF expression.

If anyone wants to hear more details about any of this, feel free to post a comment or make a forum post. I don’t know how much strategical poker knowledge I’ll be talking about in my blog, so let me know what else you want to know.

Random Stuff

These last 2-3 weeks have been pretty hectic for me. With PokerTrikz launching, I’ve been swamped with support questions, which I guess is to be expected. I’m hoping to create a better support ticket system so these will get filtered a little better and save some time. There’s still a lot more to be done on the site, but I can finally relax and take it slower.

I withdrew all my money from poker sites a while ago and I tried to deposit to make a video a few days ago. Both of my cards were denied, so I have to find another way to deposit. I’ll try to get a video up soon, but I can’t promise how long before I make another one. I highly recommend checking out some of our user uploaded videos though. Some of them are really great and I think users can learn a lot from them.

My girlfriend has been on spring break this whole week so we’ve been trying to do stuff together. This means not a lot of work has been done, but I’m hoping next week will be better. Last night we went to an awesome Fondue restaurant called Melting Pot for our 7 year “dating anniversary”. We’ve been there a few times now and while it’s a little expensive, it’s always good times.

I went into Subway today to get dinner for me and Kyra and ordered 2x subs. The total was $10 and they refused to accept my $50 bill as payment. It was pretty fucking annoying that at like 5:30PM, they are refusing to accept bills larger than a $20. I can understand not wanting to take a $100 for a $5 meal, but this was pretty simple to just give me 2x $20s back as change, which is pretty obvious they have in their register. This refusal to accept higher bills is ridiculous by companies and I wish something were to be done about it. It’s not my fault I get paid in higher denominations and I don’t really feel like walking around with infinite small bills. I e-mailed Subway Headquarters, though I have a feeling nothing is going to get done.

I am starting to look at the housing market and planning on purchasing at the end of June. I’m guessing I’m going to have a difficult time getting a mortgage. I’m hoping to save up for these next few months so I have a larger down payment and hopefully that will make it easier to get a mortgage.

I’ve not had a lot of time to watch anime recently, but I’ve got a few random episodes in. The Naruto fillers are boring right now and I’m hoping that it’s over soon. Hajime No Ippo: New Challenger has been solid and I look forward to watching it more than any other show right now. I have to give a huge shout out to Bleach though. This story arc that just ended was amazing. It filled a lot in for backstory and has me totally pumped for the upcoming battle. I wish there was more Yorouchi and Kisuke backstory.

I’ve started playing Magic again. I went to a draft and I’ve seen Shards of Alara a bit before now, but not Conflux. I ended up running the tables at 4-0 with a pretty nuts Esper deck. I had 3x Tower Gargoyles if that’s enough of an indication of deck strength. Just a few days ago I went to a T2 tourney and when I got there I couldn’t borrow the deck I thought. I was able to borrow Boat Brew, but I had never played it before. I ended up getting 2nd with my only loss being from the person I came with. So between me and him we took #1 and #2, which is pretty fun thing to do at a store.

Sorry for the randomness of this post, but I really just wanted to catch up everything. I’ll be in the forums if you need anything.

Updates, Updates, Updates

I’ve got a bunch of updates for everyone.

PokerTrikz Stuff
-Most support issues have been handled I believe. There were quite a few though, so it is very likely I have missed some. If you need to contact me for any reason, send an e-mail to trikkur(at)pokertrikz(dot)com.

-There is still a ton of stuff to do for PokerTrikz. The pages that you see now are not nearly complete and there are still more new pages to come.

-I know some of the rakeback stuff is a little unclear right now, but what should happen is that everyone is on a automatic payment plan. You will be paid all your rakeback with no worries right to your players account. Now, different sites pay at different times. I will be getting all that info up, but a quick rundown is like this. Cake Network – Monthly, Merge Network – Daily, Boss – Weekly??? (I’m not 100% sure), Full Tilt, AP, UB – Monthly.

This is going to be strictly better than the old way because most of the poker rooms are now paying their players directly. There are a few that don’t that originally you had to come request a cashout when the rakeback money became available, but now it will just do that for you. Now the snag comes where some sites don’t allow us to do this. For now you will see a cashout button in your My Rakeback. This is an alternate payment method for those sites only. If you guys would like me to possibly implement the alternate payment method for a normal monthly thing, it might be able to be arranged for a few rooms.

-New Videos: These will be coming, but there’s been delays. I’m more worried about getting support issues solved and making sure we finish our updates. Plus I don’t have any money on sites right now :) . I will get these moving again, but in the meantime check out some of our user uploaded videos. There are some awesome videos including a PLO beginners video.

-More Rakeback and Bonus Offers are coming. I’ve got 10-20 sites I’m going to be adding, but it might be a little slow to get them all on. If you need a site and it’s not on PokerTrikz yet, you can e-mail me or post in the forums and I’ll tell you if I have a deal with them.

Non-PokerTrikz Stuff
-I started watching a new anime called Juuni Kokki. I had watched about 6 episodes a few months back, but at the time it was very uninspiring. I’ve started to rewatch it in my quest to watch the top 20 anime at AnimeNfo’s List. Right now I’ve only watched 11 of them and will probably have to put One Piece on hold.

-I’ve started playing Magic again. Not too much info about this yet, but I test some T2 on MWS every once in a while. If you play, hit me up for a game.

I’m going to be adding more stuff this week when I find time.

Anime and my Infatuation

I love anime. I started watching it in college when I found out a few of my new friends did. I never was 100% sure what it was about, but I was probably more in touch with it than most people just from the hobbies and activites I did. I am in no way a fanatic like some people, but I have watched a lot of anime in these last few years and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon.

The first anime I ever saw was Paranoia Agent. I had asked a friend what anime to watch and that was his response at the time. It was a strange anime and I wasn’t really sure what the hell was going on most of the time. I later found out that they had no clue I didn’t watch anime and one of them had just finished it and told the other to go watch it and figured I should to. After that they got me started on some more basic ones like Fullmetal Alchemist and Cowboy Bebop.

I didn’t watch a ton of anime when I started. I didn’t like the concept of subtitles so I would only watch dubbed animes to start. Finally I kicked that horrible habit and realized how dumb I was. I watched a lot of the classics to start: Cowboy Bebop, FMA, Trigun, Evangelion, etc. I think this is the way anyone should start honestly. You get a really good basis to judge new anime on and they are pretty easy to get through and at least partially enjoy.

I then watched Hunter x Hunter and I was addicted. That anime still has two of my favorite characters in Killua and Hisoka. It showed me what can truly be done in anime. From a “cartoon”, I was more impressed than any TV show I’ve ever watched. It surpassed Lost, Heroes, and even my beloved Veronica Mars. There is so much more to anime that people realize. You get real story line, real emotion, and since it’s animated, the acting is always perfect.

I won’t go into too much more detail in this post. I would like to make a few posts dedicated solely to some animes I’ve seen in the past and recommend to others. I’ll end this with my top 5 favorite anime.

1. Hikaru No Go

2. Hunter x Hunter

3. Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

4. Death Note

5. Fullmetal Alchemist

I want to add that if Hajime No Ippo keeps up how it is going, it will easily make my top 5 list. I’m not sure what gets booted though.

Welcome – Part 2

I thought about it for a bit and have decided to make this blog more than just a poker and marketing blog. I’m just going to talk about whatever I decide will be fun for the day. This means people will have to put up with some posts they don’t want to read about, but hey – deal with it.

I watch a lot of anime and TV shows so a lot will probably be about that. I also play random games all the time, so some of those will get mentioned. If you are ever interested in discussing more in depth about anything I post in here, leave a comment or post in the forums. You can also e-mail me your AIM/MSN/Yahoo/Skype messenger information.

Trikkur’s New Blog

Hey everyone, this isn’t going to be the standard poker blog you’ll probably find on PokerTrikz. Since about 6 months ago, I have decreased my poker playing time and increased my internet marketing business. It was very natural for me to move over to poker marketing since it’s the game that I love and it’s a great market. I will probably discuss things I learn in affiliate marketing and running an internet business.

Suffice to say, there will hopefully be more upcoming poker content. I love playing and I’m hoping to have a lot more time now that PokerTrikz has launched. Though I don’t think I’ll ever truly “grind” again. Grinding last its attractiveness to me a while ago.

Don’t forget to bookmark me or use the rss feed to subscribe to my blog. Feel free to leave comments and I’ll check them out.
