well my start to 100NL couldnt go too much smoother…. up 10 BI’s within the week…. now fully playing 100NL exclusively unless there are no good games running…. then i will check out a few 50NL games and have been running them over now…. 100NL on cake seems very soft and i am not complaining….
hopefully this post duznt jinx me for the rest of the month so my new goal for the end of the month is to reach $4000 and 200NL….

well i finished the month with a barnstorming run and i am back being fully confident in my 50NL game…. i took a bit of time out to watch some higher stakes videos during my downswing which helped my subsequent game immensely…. especially the videos by Given…. just made me think through my hands a lot more and not instantly deciding what i was gunna do every time the action was on me…. being a little more aggressive preflop now is also helping me a lot…. really looking forward to Givens next video…. hope he’s planning on more…. 
so my deposit bonus runs out on Players Only during this month so I am probably gunna look for a different site to play so i can get HEM and use a HUD…. however, still not sure about this…. i know HEM is making changes to allow cake hands to be tracked, so that might confuse the situation a little…. i have just never been able to get the other cake converters to work properly so eagerly awaiting the HEM release with Cake support so i can finally find out how good/bad i am….

well the last two weeks have been a bit of a nightmare for me…. firstly soon after my last post i went on a 10BI downswing to about $900 until recovering it all back to $1400 by playing both 20NL and 50NL…. so i was pretty confident in my game… the downswing was mainly really bad beats…. other players hitting their draws and spiking 1, 2 and 4 outers on the river…. just some sick stuff, but all in all, thats poker…. i was pretty pleased with myself that i shrugged that off and got myself back to $1400….
so a few nites ago, i lost 2 BI’s at 50NL, so what do i decide to do…. play 2 tables of 100NL…. it went ok to start and then i hit a few big hands…. i thort “u little ripper”, getting some of my money back here…. in one hand i turned a straight and got it in against 2 pair…. of course he hits his 4 outer on the river…. also lost an all in AA vs QQ pf, when a Q peeled on the river…. so moral of that story is dont play at higher stakes when underrolled for them….
so now back at $900 and trying to grind it up again…. in the last few weeks i think i have lost at least 60% of my hands when holding AA and KK…. i have even folded these hands in obvious situations too…. just been running really bad basically over the last 2 weeks…. now i know wot a big downswing feels like…. good luck guys….

well i am thoroughly enjoying my stay at 50NL…. had a downswing to below $900 initially after the 1st couple of sessions where i was playing much more aggressive than i should have – 3betting light way too much and just being aggressive with not too much in my hand…. so went back to 20NL for a couple of sessions and brought my bankroll back to over $1000…. i have now been playing 3 tables of 50NL pretty steadily for the last 5 days or so and have been doing rather well…. 3betting and showing aggression when i should and folding when i should…. all in all i am on the way to 100NL…. *knock on wood*….

just a quick post to celebrate the fact that i have crossed the $1000 mark and am now thoroughly rolled for 50NL…. i generally play 4 tables and have been playing 3 tables of 20NL and 1 of 50NL since i crossed the $850 barrier…. so my initial plan is to probably take it down to playing 2 tables of 50NL to get a real feel for the games…. if it gets too boring i might have one 20NL table in the background….

nothing to spectacular been happening recently, just grinding away…. after moving my $$$$ from Cake to a different site last month, i ended up having $29 in rakeback which i couldnt withdraw as per Chinz’s post…. therefore decided to follow in his footsteps and played the $5 HU SNG’s…. i proceeded to win 5/5 and cashed out my $50 or so…. i am in the firm opinion that HU SNG players on Cake are terrible…. just really bad….

Coming to the end of my Beijing work trip and it has been fun…. Really been great to get out of the dreary, rainy Vancouver weather for a week of moderate sunshine and blissful 15 C weather…. had time over the last w/end to walk thro Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City which are truly recommended for anyone visiting Beijing anytime soon….
as it was forecast to be around 15 C in Beijing city on sunday i decided in typical aussie fashion to wear shorts and thongs up to the Great Wall of China…. and of course by the time we arrived in the hills it was a balmy -5 C and snowing heavily…. so here i go climbing the great wall in my shorts and thongs…. taking it all in…. was a fantastic experience altho i wish we had betr conditions to walk around a little more….
all in all after eating plenty of Beijing (Peking) Duck and other Chinese food, really looking forward to heading back to Canada before I gain 20kgs in weight….
being in China i havent even been tempted to try to play after confirming with the Cake Network that online poker is not supported in China….

i am an Australian living in Canada…. i am fairly new to the online poker scene having only played over the last 6 months…. i was basically a casual casino poker player, playing a little low stakes limit and no limit, was a fairly decent winner on most occasions but just usually played the decent cards and had no idea about anything else really, such as position, etc….
anyway during the middle of 2008 here in vancouver i started to read a few poker books and came across the 2+2 bonus poker books section, where i ended up depositing $50 on party poker to play a few sit n goes to earn my books and if i lost my $$$$ well at least i got my free books…. i ended up doing pretty well completing the book bonuses for party, everest and 888 (pacific) playing sitngoes the whole time…. from sept 2008 through to dec 2008 i had won just over $1000, and 15 free books, i decided to cash it all out but for $100 for a tilt at 6max cash games as i had been very intreged about these games as everyone seemed to be talking about them and playing them…. i have to say that party poker is a pretty fishy site but the rake is horrendous and the bonus program isnt much better…. i didnt like everest at all and pacific was quite a nice surprise….
so after the xmas/NY period of 2009 i bumped into this Pokertrikz site and loved it…. watched a few vids, had a look at the forums and read the articles…. so i decided to deposit my $100 on cake poker and see what could happen…. i started at the 4NL stakes and was killing it by my standards and ran up to $200 fairly quickly, so i decided to 2 table 10NL and 2 table 4NL, where after a week or so of breakeven, experienced a big downswing to around $120…. 10NL was going to be a challenge it seemed…. from my experience the 10NL stakes were much more aggressive than the 4NL and i got caught trying to take a few more risks than usual…. anyhow, i watched a few more vids from trik and lol, and tried a very tight aggro style at 10NL, which worked very well…. last week i reached $300 for the first time and a few days later decided to have a crack at 20NL…. i am loving it here, after a few sessions at 20NL i am almost at $500 and hopefully heading the right way to higher stakes….
it seems to me that a lot of ppl and beginners start at the 10NL stakes and play completly mad, where they would showdown either the nuts or Q high…. which is why it is a fairly difficult stake to get past, but once you reach 20NL, a lot more players are very passive is what i have initially found anyway….
